The journalism tutors on our 22-week NCTJ Fast-Track course have worked for both regional and national press and in broadcasting and online news for the BBC, ITN, Sky News, and ft.com. Our three main tutors in Shorthand, Law and Public Affairs have a hundred years of experience between them in their specialist areas.
What kind of journalist do you want to be?
The journalism courses at Up To Speed are designed by professional journalists and photographers to give you a real chance of achieving your ambitions.
You will be taught by professionals who have worked at the top in British media. Their knowledge and experience has been acquired at The Times, The Guardian, BBC News, The Independent, Sky News, The Times Education Supplements, and ITN.
We firmly believe the route we offer you into journalism and photography is faster, cheaper, and more popular with editors than other options. We know that editors are looking for people with The National Council for the Training of Journalists’ Diplomas in Journalism and Press Photography.
So, what kind of journalist can you become at Up To Speed?
You can train to be a news reporter or a sports reporter. You can become a feature writer for a magazine, a photojournalist covering sports, or a press photographer working on news stories.

You can take the NCTJ qualification after a degree, after your A Levels, or if you are looking for a change of direction. Many aspiring journalists see the NCTJ qualification as a credible alternative to a university degree. School-leavers who have taken Up To Speed’s courses are working as news reporters, magazine journalists, and researchers.
